This is a charming Chardonnay from a small grower in the Mâcon. Lionel Rhedon-Marin is a graduate of the College of Viticulture in the nearby village of Davaye, where Guffens trained. All of their young-vine fruit is sold in bulk to one of the better negociants, who is pleased to have it, since Lionel is such a careful grower. But their old-vine fruit, all over 45 years of age, is kept for the domaine wine, which is charming and elegant. This is a balanced, well-made and wonderfully crisp and mineral-driven Mâcon. Only K&L's direct import makes this price possible.
