2007 Charles Ellner "Séduction" Brut Champagne (Previously $60)

SKU #1618901 93 points Int'l Wine Review

Outer quote mark The 2007 'Seduction' is a lovely showing from this house. This begins to impress with inviting aromas of baked apples, pears and lemon oil with hints of toast and chalky mineral nuances all taking shape. On the palate this displays a wonderful elegant side, but with plenty of energy from the underlying acidity which drives this wine through the complex finish. Overall this is a fantastic bottle of Champagne that is drinking beautifully today and still has a few more years of drinking pleasure ahead. (JD) Inner quote mark (10/2021)

Outer quote mark A toasty hint of grilled nut adds savory richness to this bright, light-footed Champagne. The firm acidity is well-meshed to notes of yellow plum, candied ginger and lemon curd. Not a powerhouse, but fresh and balanced. (AN, Web-2019) Inner quote mark

The 2007 Charles Ellner Seduction Champagne has delicate floral aromas intermingled with apple, pear, and citrus. Upon the first sip, the champagne's time spent aging on the lees enriches its character and reveals Seduction’s depth and complexity. Crisp green apple, zesty lemon, and peach, with creamy brioche and almond. For champagne that’s sixteen years old, its aged character is carried by a drive of acidity. And it comes in a nice box and the bottle’s label rocks.

This Champagne is wild. On the nose, there are many classic Champagne notes such as freshly baked bread, creamy vanilla, and something lightly floral. BUT this sparkler is also very savory with mushroom and forest floor aromas. The palate blends the above notes combined with baked apple, nuttiness, toasted brioche, while still maintaining deep acidity. The finish is exceptionally long, beguiling you with echoes of what just happened.

The 2007 Charles Ellner "Seduction" Brut Champagne is seductive indeed. Aromas of toasted brioche, grilled hazelnuts, and freshly baked biscuits waft from the glass and pull you into each and every sip. Those savory, bready, nutty tones persist through the palate and are complimented by honeycomb, baked pear, spiced apple, and candied ginger flavors. All these rich flavors never feel overly dense, however, as a citrus zest and slightly saline quality provides lift and mouthwatering freshness. If fifteen years seems too long to wait on a bottle of Champagne, just be grateful for Ellner's patience, because it was time well spent coaxing such vast complexity from this wine.

Wow. Talk about a wine living up to its name! Yes, the 2007 Charles Ellner Seduction Brut is indeed seductive! A blend of 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir, this vintage bubbly is delightfully rich, lively, and complex. The nose is nutty, with hints of salted caramel and mushrooms. The palate is loaded with salinity and tangs of apple sauce and macerated lemons. There's still a ton of life in this bottle. While its creamy and rich, it also feels light on its feet and shockingly quaffable. Bring this to your next fancy charcuterie party.

This is a great price for easily one of the most interesting and appealing vintage champagnes in our portfolio. Made entirely from the 2007 vintage (that's FIFTEEN year of aging), it shows toasted sourdough, honey, citrus, apples and spice. It is in the sweet spot of age, showing the beautiful balance between aged, dried fruit elements, leesiness, cream and minerals.

I have enjoyed drinking this 2007 champagne on two different occasions and in different settings. This is possibly the most versatile bottle of champagne at this price point in the shop. I love the zippy tartness combined with pulled caramel, red apple and almond nougat toast that makes this an excitingly enjoyable Champagne to drink. Super tasty and worth every cent.

Delicious aged Champagne that shows complex and layered palate with slightly toasty notes, hazelnut and marzipan nuances. It's opening up as you swirl it in your glass and shows a lot of citrus and mineral aromas and flavors. Serious wine.

Very fine nose of saline, baked caramel, tart apple, lemon cream and hazelnut. In the mouth, it is initially tart, mineral driven and lightly chalky. The golden apple fruit comes forward with lemon zest, saline and nectarine. Refreshing and elegant!

What an incredible bottle of tete de cuvee! This bottle has a lovely lees quality from incredibly long ageing- it is their current release at 15 years old. The subtle high quality brioche on the nose and palate are balanced with great citric lift from the non-malolactic style. This is a complex champagne with the magic of age that does not sacrifice liveliness and zip. I can't wait to have it with scallops at home! One of our top values in vintage champagne and one of our longest aged current releases!
Drink from 2023 to 2037
