2010 Buty (Connor Lee - Champoux Vineyard) Columbia Valley Cabernet Merlot-Cabernet Franc (1.5L)

SKU #1577764 92 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Supple, focused and distinctive for its exotic spice and guava overtones around a core of cherry and green olive flavors, persisting easily on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2019. Inner quote mark (12/2012)

Outer quote mark Originating in the Conner Lee Vineyard -- though not labeled as such -- the Buty 2010 Merlot & Cabernet Franc delivers an alluring and fascinating combination of bittersweet floral perfume; marine breeze; and scents of fresh dark cherry and berries, all of which anticipate its billowing, juicy, and saliva-stimulating impression on a strikingly silken palate. The 42% Cabernet Franc here strikes me as getting more than equal billing. This finishes with real verve and next-sip inducement, and will probably prove versatile and delightful for at least the next three years. Inner quote mark (12/2012)

90 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark Light red-fruit flavors are spiced up beautifully with cinnamon and sweet toast. This is an elegant, peppery wine that’s well defined and still showing some youthful sharpness. It will reward additional bottle age and should cellar well for up to a decade. Inner quote mark (7/2012)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Outer quote mark Good dark red. Aromas of redcurrant, tobacco and milk chocolate. At once sweet and penetrating, with juicy acidity giving shape to the redcurrant and fresh herbs flavors. A bit monochromatic today though nicely fine-grained. I'd give this a year or two for its tannins and acids to come into better harmony. Inner quote mark (12/2012)

K&L Notes

58% Merlot & 42% Cabernet Franc. From the winery: "All of the estate-grown Merlot and the majority of Cabernet Franc are grown in the silt-sands of Conner Lee Vineyard. The minority portion of Cabernet Franc is from the complex flood deposits of Champoux Vineyard. The two varietals are often evenly split, but the blend is vintage variable. The oak profile is entirely Taransaud Chateau barrels, both new and used. Our Merlot and Cabernet Franc wine is elegant, structured, rich and floral. Fifteen barrels produced."
