James Suckling
A deep and complex dry Mosel with so many wild herb and spicy nuances alongside the ripe-peach and lemon notes. On the palate it has commanding presence for just 12% alcohol, thanks to the excellent tannin structure that very neatly supports the long, finely chiseled finish. Drink or hold.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2020 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Alte Reben comes from 70- to 80-year-old vines in the middle of the slope. The grapes were harvested four weeks after the Kabinett, crushed overnight and then fermented 100% in foudres. The wine was left on the lees for 10 months and saw no sulfur until just before bottling. The nose is fine and discreet but strikingly mineral and flinty, with fresh fruit aromas, a certain rigor and a hint of animal notes. Mouth-filling, rich and generous but at the same time precise and crystalline, with lingering salinity and again this persistent rigor, this is definitely an interesting Riesling that needs some years to open and develop a more hedonistic complexity. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 3621 in November 2021. (SR)
