The 2014 Chablis Grand Cru les Preuses, which Marc Cameron told me is now the last of the grand crus to be bottled, has a well-defined bouquet that is clean and pure, but perhaps needing a little more spiciness to articulate this vineyard. The palate is better with crisp acidity, nicely poised with fine salinity toward the finish. Keep this in the cellar for 4 or 5 years and this will evolve into a formidable Les Preuses. (NM)

An admirably discreet application of wood sets off floral, white fruit and citrus aromas that display plenty of classic Chablis nuances that include ocean breeze, green fruit, lemon-lime and pear. There is good richness to the relatively full-bodied and intense flavors that are underpinned by tangy but ripe acidity and a beautifully delineated finish that possesses excellent power and intensity. This is a classic Preuses of harmony and finesse.

Coming from almost 60-year-old vines, the 2014 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses is beautifully clean and pure, with lots of white flowers, citrus, lemon peel and mineral nuances giving way to a rounded, supple style on the palate. It carries bright acidity, but leads with gorgeous purity of fruit and is just hard to resist. This is a gorgeous, elegant Chablis that will shine for a decade or more.

Vinous
Riper peach, crushed herbs and soil tones on the nose, accented by a touch of cinnamon oak spice. Not as austere as the Blanchots; in fact, this demonstrates a lovely creamy richness for 2014. But firming lemony acidity intensifies and extends the dry, savory flavors of citrus zest, flowers, powdered stone and soil through a very long, energetic finish. In recent years, the Preuses has become the last wine to be bottled at this address--in this case in early May. (ST) 92+
