Coming from vines around the estate, the 2018 Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan De Dieu (50% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, and 20% Syrah) has a spicy, Provençal, ready-to-go style as well as lovely notes of kirsch liqueur, wild strawberries, dried flowers, and peppery spices. Medium-bodied, seamless, and elegant on the palate, it’s another winner from this estate to enjoy over the coming 4-5 years.

Less ripe and concentrated than the 2017, but silkier and more elegant, the 2018 Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu is a similar blend, with approximately 50% Grenache and the remainder and a mix of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Raspberries and cherries appear on the nose, joined by hints of garrigue and black tea, while the full-bodied palate features tannins that are almost delicate and lacy in style, with hints of licorice and dark chocolate on the finish. Seductive, with sandalwood, tea and gently mulled cherry and damson plum notes all carried by silky tannins through a perfumy finish. (JM, Web-2021)
