H&H is the only producer of Madeira who produces wine primarily from their own vineyards, an advantage they have always enjoyed since the company's founding in 1850. All their age statements show the minimum age of wine blended in (as opposed to the average age), and most of their wines are aged the old fashioned way, in the canteiro (i.e. up in the rafters, exposed to heat and sunlight) method.
