Akashi (White Oak) Eigashima Shuzo 4 Year Old Umeshu Cask Aged Single Malt Japanese Whisky (750ml)
SKU #1554138
Located in the town of Akashi, near the famed city of Kobe in Japan, the White Oak distillery has been in operation since 1919, though very few Americans are familiar with the whisky. Owned by Eigashima, it is actually the oldest operating distillery in Japan, having received its license four years before Yamazaki produced any whisky, despite the fact that it would be another forty years before they actually used it. This single malt is aged 3 years in ex-bourbon casks followed by 1 year in seasoned ex-umeshu casks. Distillery tasting notes: "Crisp with a delicious maltiness and hints of vanilla. A mellow and soft texture balanced by white chocolate and almond notes."
