Beautiful lemon curd, toasted bread, spice, and white flower notes emerge from the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc, a clean, medium-bodied, beautifully balanced white with loads to love. It's going to shine on the dinner table and should have 4-6 years (probably longer) of prime drinking. This cuvée is 20% each of Grenache Blanc, Picpoul, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, and Clairette, aged in a mix of demi-muids (some new), old barrels, stainless steel, and concrete eggs.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Equal parts Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Picpoul Blanc and Roussanne, Chante Cigale's 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is medium to full-bodied with a slightly custardy feel, yet it remains fresh, offering a hint of fennel and gorgeous citrus and melon flavors, finishing long. Interestingly, I preferred this to the high-end Extrait bottling this vintage. (JC)

The 2020 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc from Chante Cigale is composed of a blend of twenty percent each of Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Picpoul. The wine is fermented in new oak casks, but racked out of them six weeks later to finish its elevage in stainless steel tanks. The wine comes in at 14.5 percent octane in this vintage and offers up a bright nose of pear, persimmon, chalky soil tones, white lilies and a hint of vanillin oak.

Attractive apple and pear aroma. Supple and creamy on the palate with well-integrated oak. Maintains a minerally freshness which lingers on the finish. Really quite persistent. (JL)

K&L Notes
Chante Cigale means singing cicada. The property has been in the same family since the 19th century and is currently run by Alexandre Favier, who assumed the reins at the ripe old age of 20! The domaine is planted to 40 ha of red and 5 ha of white on 45 different parcels throughout the appellation. The Blanc is a blend of equal parts Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Bourbelenc, Clairette and Picpoul. The grapes are destemmed and fermented with native yeasts. Élevage is in a combination of tanks and 5% new oak barrels with no malolactic fermentation. Only a small amount of this wine is made, and it is always one of the great values for white from the region.
