2019 Domaine Albert Morot Beaune 1er Cru "Toussaints"

SKU #1552968 92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark This too is aromatically very pretty with its array of anise, floral, red and dark cherry and suggestion of humus scents. The elegance continues on the appealingly textured middle weight flavors that are at once seductive yet punchy, which contrasts considerably with the firm, serious, youthfully austere and built-to-age finale. This also is going to require at least some forbearance and is a wine that should amply repay extended keeping. *Outstanding* Inner quote mark (4/2021)

Slightly earthier with black tea and underbrush note this bottling is complex and complexly layered. It is amazing to see how much it changes in a decanter and gives out more and more flavors. It shows supple macerated cherry and black plum compote combined with clove and hint of forest floor notes.

The 1er Cru "Toussaints" has aromas of cherries and dried herbs with hints of marzipan and forest floor. The palate here tends to shade towards dark raspberry notes with spice notes pulsating throughout. Good structure and depth make this wine feel like a compromise between the earthy tones of Teurons and the fruits side of the Aigrots.
