2019 Noemía de Patagonia "A Lisa" Malbec Rio Negro

SKU #1547955 93 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark This is really creamy and delicious with sliced-plum and light earth aromas and flavors. Hints of redwood. Medium-bodied, firm and silky. Subtle and firm. Focused. Inner quote mark (2/2020)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark This is the "village" bottling, and it has bright red fruit aromas and a layer of spices that is subtle and nicely integrated. This is harmonious and fresh, a good introduction to that part of Patagonia that is elegant and delivers very good quality for its price. The tannins are very fine, and there is beautiful balance. It's clean, juicy and precise, really pleasant and easy to drink. It has a vibrant palate with fresh acidity, really very impressive. With time in the glass, it develops a subtle note of orange peel that to me denotes freshness. (LG) Inner quote mark (3/2021)

90 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The nose offers notes of sour cherry, plum, herbs and a novel, bloody profile. An elemental wine displaying complementary oaky hints. Rich in the mouth, it has active, gentle tannins to which the Merlot adds a little spice and texture. Juicy and medium-bodied, with acid that leaves a tingle at the back of the throat, and a long, fruity aftertaste. A classical wine. (JH) Inner quote mark (10/2020)

K&L Notes

91 points Tim Atkin, MW: "Hans Vinding-Diers increased the Merlot component of this blend with Malbec to 10% in 2019 and dropped the Petit Verdot entirely. Scented, textured and refined, it’s all about silky red berry fruit and graphite-scented tannins rather than oak, with freshness and minerality adding complexity to the finish."

The first thing you notice with this wine is the saturated color. It is intense and red, significantly brighter than the purplish hue that you see in Mendoza Malbecs. The nose is red fruits, muted dried wind blown herbs with a fine dusty earthiness. There is subtle depth but this has a more reserved nose. This wine shines on the palate. It is supple, round and energetic. It glides on the palate. It is dark sweet cherry fruit with that dusty herbs and just enough bitterness to balance everything. The tannins are very fine, it has nice balancing acid and good concentration. What a wine.
