2019 Kalinda Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

SKU #1544858

This wine comes from one of the more renowned Cabernet Sauvignon producers in Napa Valley. Really! But, we offer this beauty at a price much lower than what you’d pay at the winery, as for decades now, our Kalinda private label has been providing K&L customers with awesome wines at a fraction of what they'd normally pay under the producers' mainstay labels. Naturally, no producer wants their wines on the market for less than what they'd usually sell for, so the trade-off is anonymity.

If you are looking for an everyday Cabernet that delivers on quality and price look no further than the 2019 Kalinda Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine checks all the boxes; polished, smooth and seamless. Bramble fruit, a hint of cocoa and a touch of spice are distinct on the nose. Lush and juicy on the palate. Great choice for a stocking stuffer or for those now elusive family get togethers. Stock up while you can!

The Kalinda Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is from a secret source, but I can tell you that is 75% Rutherford and 25% Yountville fruit, and is a very well-priced example of classic old-school Napa Valley. This reminds me of a time when Napa vintners were making wines closer to Bordeaux than modern times. This is perfect for someone who is looking for a more classically styled cabernet sauvignon that is not made in a more modern, richer style. There is sweet fruit, but it is not cloying. There is some oak, but it is in the background. There is some of the greener side of the cabernet fruit spectrum, but the wine doesn't come across as 'green' or under-ripe. The fruit flavors are pure and a great example of cabernet sauvignon that is complex and really enjoyable to drink right now or for at least the next 5 years.

Our "secret" source for this wine has delivered one of our best releases to date! A lush full-bodied Cabernet loaded with blackberry, cherry and currant fruit. A subtle touch of herbs and spices give this a classic feel and the smooth supple finish will have you reaching for another bottle as the first one quickly disappears. Superb value!

I’ve been bugging my colleague all week trying to figure out who the source is on this one and alas--no one’s given it up yet. With a nose that has soft, warm fruit with sweet cherry, cassis and a hint of charred cedar. This has been open for a full hour now and is showing beautifully. With rich, concentrated fruit, this is the definition of a mouth coating wine: it hits every spot on the palate. Incredibly smooth and with generous fruit this is an easy grab if you’re headed to a friends for dinner--it will definitely impress.

The Kalinda Cabernet Sauvignon offers tremendous value every vintage and the '19 is no exception. It's always sourced from pedigreed vineyards but is built for near term drinking. This wine has all the elements of a first class cab but is more accessible than some of its more expensive contemporaries. It has a gorgeous bouquet of red and black fruit with a warm touch of oak spice topped with a subtle dash of vanilla. It's medium bodied with ripe and suave tannins. It definitely eludes to that desired Rutherford dust. There's a long satisfying finish that leaves you with the taste of fresh berries and a warm dash of lightly toasted oak. This should be your "go to" Cab for the rest of the summer.

Finally arriving is this great value Cabernet Sauvignon. It says Napa Valley as it is 75% Rutherford and 25% Yountville. The Rutherford fruit is from a VERY famous property in that region. I can say no more about its origins. What I can say is that the wine is delicious! Intense cassis (blackcurrant) aromas that follow to the palate. Fine palate entry with gobs of red fruit flavors and spicy undertones. Fruit balances well with the acidity and round tannins. Decant one hour if drinking in 2021—the wine is young and lively and needs some air. We have not had a Cabernet for quite some time, so enjoy this beauty.
Drink from 2021 to 2030
