2019 Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Beaune Blanc 1er Cru "Clos St-Landry"

SKU #1543081 93 points Decanter

Outer quote mark Produced from Bouchard’s 1.98ha monopole on the lower slopes near Les Sizies, this south-east facing slope is among the first to be picked at Bouchard. Whole cluster pressed and fermented in cask (20% new), with just under a year in cask and another few months in tank. The wine has a pleasantly concentrated ripe apple and citrus aroma, with a touch of beeswax and hay. On the palate there is better acidity despite the warm weather and an elegant finesse to the lingering finish. (CC) Inner quote mark (10/2020)

93 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark A very striking white Beaune with apricot, candied-lime and fresh-herb character. Although this has some nice creaminess from sur-lie aging on the mid-palate, it is quite sleek with excellent freshness and a long, salty finish. Drink or hold. Inner quote mark (7/2021)

89-91 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Clos Saint-Landry Blanc 1er Cru was the first to be picked in this vintage. It has a vibrant, energetic bouquet of citrus fruit and orange blossom. The palate is well balanced, featuring lemon peel and lime, and much more cohesive and complex than the Beaune Château Blanc, with a persistent finish. (NM) Inner quote mark (12/2020)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Tasted from bottle, the 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Clos Saint-Landry Blanc has turned out very nicely, wafting from the glass with notes of crisp yellow orchard fruit, green pineapple, pastry cream, fresh bread and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and enveloping, with tangy acids and excellent concentration, it concludes with a long, saline finish. I'd expect this to make my score seem conservative after a decant in bottle. (WK) Inner quote mark (9/2021)

Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark As is typical for Clos St. Landry, there is an exotic element lurking in the background of the white peach, orange peel and soft wood nuances. Here too the mouthfeel of the expansive middle weight flavors is notably suave and rounded while the bitter lemon-tinged acidity is just enough to maintain the balance. While there is a touch of warmth, it's not enough to materially affect the overall sense of harmony. Inner quote mark (6/2021)

K&L Notes

90-93 points Jasper Morris for Inside Burgundy: "Yellow marl soil in a very sunny spot, the first to be picked. Pale yellow with lightest green tints. Sunny white fruit, a little bit of coconut. Good tension here, leavened white fruit, again the power behind, slight youthful bitterness, this wine has very good potential." (10/2020)
