2020 Henri de Villamont Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc "Le Village"

SKU #1542288

The quality of wine from Henri de Villamont vastly improved following their 2004 decision to reduce the négociant arm of the business by over fiftyfold and concentrate on achieving the best results from their 25 acres of domaine-owned vineyards. This 100% Chardonnay wine hails from their prized "Le Village" monopole vineyard in the village of Savigny-lès-Beaune. Burgundy's 2020 vintage is showing excellent quality despite producers having to scramble on the account of a unique, historically early harvest. As a K&L Exclusive part of our Direct Import program, the Villamont wines present astounding value relative to price, and previous vintages have been some of our fastest selling Burgundies in this price range.

This charming Burgundy is all about balance. There is a wonderful freshness from the aromatics partnered with a lovely full and surrounding mouthfeel that is intertwined with a finessed finish. Yellow apple, pear, chamomile tea, white pepper, honeycomb. The minerality is forefront and the oak is well integrated. This wine has fine grace that will appease most. Enjoy with pepper pork tenderloin, mushroom polenta and grilled chicory.

This has a relatively plush nose of yellow fruits, lemon meringue, pastry dough and almonds. Neat-o! On the palate, the richness carries through with butter pecan, green and yellow apples and little bit of verbena. At the back of the throat, nice, bright acidity with light to moderate salinity. This one should please both lovers of White Burgundy and those that are moving from CA chardonnay to its equivalent in Burgundy. Superbly enjoyable!
