From a parcel on the plateau behind Clos A, this is a rare bottling for this domaine. Refined and flinty, grapefruit nose with lemons and such an intense, reductive edge. There’s plenty of weight and glycerol on the palate with smooth, long and assertive presence. Grip. Extract. Drink now.

The 2018 Petit Chablis is a beautiful, creamy wine endowed with terrific nuance and complexity, especially at this level. Readers who want to understand what makes these wines so distinctive - and the vintage so special in the smaller appellations - will find that here. Almond, dried pear and floral notes grace the exquisite, mid-weight finish. (AG)

There is unusually good typicity in the context of the 2018 vintage present on the fresh, expressive and ripe nose that speaks primarily of white orchard fruit and quinine nuances. There is both fine richness and volume to the relatively dense middle weight flavors that possess very good mid-palate density before concluding in a dry bitter lemon-inflected finish where the only reproach is a hint of warmth. This isn't elegant but it's very Petit Chablis in character.

The 2018 Petit Chablis from Domaine Dauvissat is excellent and is going to be a terrific value this year. The bouquet is bright and precise, offering up scents of apple, lemon, chalky minerality, white flowers and a nice topnote of beeswax. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely ripe in personality, with fine focus, excellent cut and grip and a long, zesty finish that closes with a pronounced note of orange peel. Good juice. (Drink between 2020-2028

K&L Notes
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "This was the first to be picked, for a change. Pale clear colour, the traditional sulphur note behind in youth, then a gorgeous sweetness of fruit, utterly delicious, with some baked apples. I am almost ready to gulp this down now!"
