2018 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "Séchet" (Pre-Arrival)

SKU #1542042 94 points Decanter

Outer quote mark Vincent Dauvissat's holdings in this comparatively rare Premier Cru are now down to 0.4ha because of family inheritance, but this remains the tightest and most austere of his wines, sourced from a vineyard with very meagre soils. Saline, savoury and restrained, with old vine concentration and notes of umami and almond paste. Drinking Window 2021 - 2030. (TA) Inner quote mark (7/2019)

91-92 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark A very flinty and steely nose with mineral and lemon, lime and grapefruit pith. The palate has a very refined core of acidity and a wealth of green mangoes, peaches and lemons, in a very restrained, taut, assertive and yet elegant style. The textural interplay and build is stunning. Drink on release or hold. Inner quote mark (8/2019)

90-92 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2018 Chablis Sechet 1er Cru is creamy, open-knit and wonderfully inviting. Soft contours and expressive aromatics give the wine much of its early accessibility; I imagine it will drink well with just a few years in bottle, although it should age gracefully for a number of years as well. Dried flowers, ginger and spice add attractive touches of complexity on the finish. (AG) Inner quote mark (1/2020)

Outer quote mark This too possesses fine Chablis typicity with its array of sea breeze and iodine along with the hallmark citrus scents of a classic Séchet. There is a wonderful sense of underlying tension to the mineral-driven middle weight flavors that exhibit slightly better depth and length on the well-balanced, crisp and chiseled finale. This is dry to the point of engendering a touch of youthful austerity and thus a wine that will need at least a few years of patience.*Burghound Oiutsatnding!* Inner quote mark (11/2020)

91 points John Gilman

Outer quote mark The 2018 Séchet chez Dauvissat is cut from a similar cloth to the villages this year, but with the greater depth and soil signature of a top premier cru. The wine is nicely plump and juicy on the attack, with a full-bodied and generous format, excellent concentration at the core, plenty of soil signature and very good acids and grip on the long, complex and very well-balanced finish. The bouquet is a head-turning mix of pear, tangerine, chalky minerality, a hint of oyster shell, lemon peel and dried flowers. All in all, this is a lovely wine in a slightly larger scale than usual, but with all of its constituent components just as they should be. 2020-2040+. Inner quote mark (12/2019)

K&L Notes

90-93pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Pale colour with the faintest lemon tinge. It is its usual austere self on the nose with perhaps some fresh pears behind. There is considerable weight of fruit which displays a touch more succulence than usual – and is very persistent."
