Look for mellow vanilla and oak aromas. The spiced palate entices with a billow of peat smoke from the first sip, winding into an earthy midpalate laced with sandalwood and ginger. The warming, earthy finish shows clove and smoke.

Balblair used to have a small but devoted following for their myriad vintage releases, but they've wisely streamlined to a more traditional 12, 15, 18 year core lineup. It's a huge improvement for the casual Balblair fan who can now find some much needed consistency in a favorite go-to distillery. There are still some vintages to be found for those who miss the old ways, but in general this wonderfully set of sherry influenced releases should becomed a staple for many Scotch drinkers. Tough to go wrong with the 18 year old bottling for any fine occasion or gifting needs.
