The Jadot parcel covers 0.35ha in Les Rouges du Bas and is one of the producer's most complete Grands Crus in 2018. The one-third new oak is typically smoky and assertive but that comes with the territory here. The underlying fruit is very smart and scented with floral raspberry and red cherry flavours and silky tannins.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) has turned out beautifully in bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, cassis, rich spices and potpourri—much as it did from barrel— and framed by a classy touch of new oak. Full-bodied, velvety and supple, it's sumptuous and enveloping, with beautifully refined tannins, succulent acids and a broad, expansive finish. Beautifully balanced, this will offer an unusually broad drinking window.
In 2019, I reported on over 120 different 2018 Burgundies from Louis Jadot. As I wrote then, Jadot's Frédéric Barnier was optimistic about the reds from the beginning, but, he said, "We worked hard with the white wines—blocking a lot of malolactic—to make them fresh and lively." Revisiting an extensive range from bottle in my office in the United States, I was gratified to find the wines just as consistent as they had shown in barrel. The accompanying tasting notes record my impressions in detail. (WK)

Vinous
The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a voluminous, intense bouquet of multilayered red berry fruit mixed with brown spices and sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and slightly creamy in texture. It feels cohesive, and the sensual finish is very appealing. Plenty of drinking pleasure to be found here. (NM)

Allen Meadows - Burghound
An exuberantly spicy nose is composed almost exclusively of various ripe dark berries and exotic tea scents. The refined middle weight flavors flash good power and vibrancy on the dusty, complex and solidly persistent finish. This is really quite stylish and while it's definitely a creature of its vintage, the overall balance and density of material is most promising.

K&L Notes
93-96pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "From Les Rouges du Bas. Fine glowing red purple. There is an immediate and delicious elegant floral quality to the nose, in the context of ripe fruit, of course. Soft and a little oaky on the palate – nothing that will not integrate – but with a delicious quality of fruit that extends very well to the back of the palate." (01/2020)
