Curt Schlachlin is the winemaker/mastermind behind both the Groundwork and Sans Liege wines out of Paso Robles. The Sans Liege wines carry the pedigree and gravitas of world class wines while the Groundwork wines take that fundamental knowledge to express a level of comfort and carefree moments. Groundwork strikes gold again with this stunning rose of grenache. Grenache often being my second favorite varietal for rose, I knew this was going to be a hit at my 4th of July party this weekend, and surly enough, the crowd was ranting and raving about how tasty and easy drinking this bottle was. This will definitely be a repeat offender at my next bbq.

There's plenty of fresh strawberries and juicy watermelon here with a just a gentle squirt of citrus to frame the wine and give it lift. Along with a note of tea and herbs in the distance, this is complex enough to stimulate your every sip while still being easygoing and laid-back. Rosés come in many styles, and to be clear, this is the prototypical poolside, easy-drinking mode. This Grenache rosé from Paso Robles checks all the boxes for me. It's 100% tank fermented which means it retains a crisp and lively juiciness. It weighs in at a pleasantly low 12% alcohol and at $14.99 it goes easy on the wallet. I strongly recommend you put a case away in your pantry now as not much was made. Enjoy a bottle every weekend with family and friends. This will be my spring fling.
