2018 Ferraton Père et Fils "Lieu-Dit Paradis" St-Joseph

SKU #1531769 92-94 points Jeb Dunnuck

Outer quote mark Beautiful graphite, cassis, new leather, and spicy notes emerge from the 2018 Saint Joseph Lieu-Dit Paradis. It's medium to full-bodied, has beautiful depth of fruit, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It has all the right components, terrific balance, and enough underlying structure to warrant 2-4 years of bottle age. Inner quote mark (12/2019)

92 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Silky and fresh in feel, with a mix of red and black cherry fruit guided by sandalwood and alder threads, while a light floral note chimes on the finish. (JM) Inner quote mark (2/2021)

K&L Notes

The history of Ferraton begins in 1946 when it was founded by Jean Orëns Ferraton. Acquiring vineyards in Hermitage, St-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. Son, Michel Ferraton joined his father years later and helped expand the estate's holdings. It was not until 1998 when the Godfather of the Northern Rhône, Michel Chapoutier, was welcomed as an investor in the winery and brought along his interests in organic and biodynamic farming. In 2008, oenologist Damien Bresset was added to the team and with his restrained hand, the wine began to truly express the best of the terroirs and their current profiles. Specializing in single site and appellation focused wines, Ferraton has one of the most exciting portfolios in the Northern (and a few surprise Southern) Rhône wines.
