One of the most profound bottles of Pinot Noir I have tasted (drunk) in a longtime. This bottle truly has the magic of Pinot Noir, the X-factor that people chase with this varietal. It is at once wonderfully lifted, perfumed and elegant, but also intense, powerful, and structured. Dark rose petals, Asian spices, pine forest, Agar wood all mingle with pristine fruits of the forest, mulling spice, and warm earth. The brooding core of this wine is only just beginning to unfurl its outer petals but already it's a true beauty. It has every element to prove itself one of the finest Pinot Noirs in the country and to take on many of the finest on the planet. Truly magical wine that is difficult to put into words.

Wow. The nose on this Pinot is worth the price of admission alone. It is one of those wines where you can keep going back to the glass and find something new every time. At the moment, it is full of copious black raspberry, baking spices, forest floor, and currant. The palate is pure and focused, with deep red fruits including ripe strawberry and cherry skin, with a lingering spiciness, beautiful texture, and a spine of acidity that keeps it all fresh. There's a great depth and sauvage to it that shows the whole clusters and serious structure that will only lend to an even more dynamic Pinot going forward. I'd recommend a quick decant or a bit of air to get the most out of it at this stage, and it will also be a joy to revisit over the next 5 to 15 years. Either way, it is a regal Pinot Noir that hits all the right marks and will thrill those looking to explore the heights of nuanced and age-worthy California Pinot Noir.
