2019 Domaine Marc Colin St-Aubin 1er Cru "En Remilly" (Pre-Arrival)

SKU #1524954 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2019 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly has also turned out nicely, displaying aromas of pear, fresh bread, confit lemon and nutmeg, framed by a promising—at this stage in its élevage—touch of reduction. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, it's ample and elegantly textural, but built around a lovely spine of acidity, concluding with a lively finish. Damien Colin reported that his yields were some 30% below average and that the crop ripened rapidly, "even very rapidly." Indeed, having projected a September 15 start, he began picking on September 7. Alcohol levels came in for the most part between 13% and 13.5%, with good phenolic maturity and lower pHs than in 2018. Having learned from a succession of warm vintages, every effort was made to retain freshness: working with cool grapes, minimal bâtonnage and moderate percentages of new oak. And in the vineyards, Colin is backing off rognage, working more flexibly to adapt to the vintage. All this translates to a very fine vintage chez Colin, delivering wines that are more concentrated and more clearly defined by site than the charming, open and expressive 2018s, also revisited here.(WK) Inner quote mark (1/2021)

90-92 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2019 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru is more exhibitionist on the nose compared to other cuvées with overt tropical notes of passion fruit, guava and citrus peel. The bouquet is well balanced with tempting orange pith and yellow plum notes. In this vintage I am more taken with the La Chatenière or Sous Rouche Dumay that are both more classic in style. 91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark Vague hints of exotic fruit float in the background of the citrusy aromas of green apple, white peach and lemon confit. The delicious and relatively tightly wound flavors exude a subtle minerality on the bitter zest inflected finish where the only reproach is a hint of warmth. This well-made effort should also age well. *Burghound Outstanding!* Inner quote mark (6/2021)

Merci, Damien, ça suffit. Pale yellow. A little bit of toast, really intense, almost too much, complex, but unforgiving. Needs a long elevage. Tasted: October 2020."
