2019 Domaine Louis Jadot (Domaine des Héritiers) Corton Grand Cru "Pougets" (Pre-Arrival)

SKU #1524316 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2019 Corton-Pougets Grand Cru (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is excellent, unwinding in the glass with notes of cherries, plums, orange rind, dark chocolate, sweet spices and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it's deep and concentrated, with broad shoulders and rich, powdery structuring tannins. As usual, this is a fine proposition for the medium- to long-haul. 94 points Decanter

Outer quote mark This domaine-owned parcel is a tradition at Jadot, who is one of the last to produce red Corton from this site. It is located mid-slope next to Le Charlemagne and most producers make white wine here. The grapes are destemmed and gently fermented to produce this bright, forward Corton which is completely unlike the slightly rustic reds of previous years. The texture is lovely, silky and very fine. Drinking Window 2021 - 2025. (CC) Inner quote mark (10/2020)

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark This is actually quite aromatically similar to the Corton-Grèves though with a bit more elegance. The elegance continues onto the sleekly muscular middle weight flavors that also exude evident minerality on the moderately austere finale that offers both very fine depth and length. This also possess excellent development potential and is a wine that’s going to need at least a decade first. Inner quote mark (4/2021)

92-94 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2019 Corton-Pougets Grand Cru was ever so slightly reduced on the nose, but opens with time to reveal quite intense black fruit laced with vanilla. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very good weight and a fine bead of acidity. This conveys the most energy of the three Corton Grand Crus from Jadot that I tasted. Velvety texture on the finish. Lovely. Just one used barrel produced. (NM) Inner quote mark (12/2020)

K&L Notes

91-93pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Attractive mid crimson. A fuller plumper bouquet than the Grèves, as the fruit appears riper. Still shows up with some tannins at the back. At the moment the fruit is showing a little bit too much ripeness for classical tastes, but this is still a good wine. Tasted: October 2020."
