Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Crays is another expressive, immediate wine from Barraud this year, bursting with aromas of peach, pear, mandarin orange and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and sumptuous, it's pretty and open-knit, with ripe acids and a saline finish.
Long one of the Mâconnais's leading estates, Daniel and Julien Barraud harvest their 8.5 hectares of vines by hand—and now, what's more, they're in the process of organic conversion. After pressing and an overnight settling, the musts ferment in a variety of vessels—stainless steel, demi-muids and barrels—adapted to the cuvée, with the more serious bottlings seeing 12-14 months on the lees in barrel before bottling. The 2018 vintage at this address is rich, round and front-loaded, reminiscent of the domaine's 2015s though naturally not as concentrated as that lower-yielding vintage. (WK)

Allen Meadows - Burghound
A subtle application of wood can be found on the ripe and mildly exotic fresh white-fleshed fruit and pineapple-suffused nose that exudes a discreet spiciness. There is good verve if perhaps not quite the same density of material to the middle weight flavors that possess a slightly more sophisticated mouthfeel along with mineral hints that add a sense of lift to the clean, dry and bitter lemon-inflected finish. This mildly warm and sappy effort will need at least a few years of bottle age to add a bit more depth.
