This is such a delicious cabernet franc with blackberry and floral notes on the nose and palate, which draw you in and invite you to drink. Medium body. Round, creamy tannins and a delicious finish. The use of whole berries really makes this. Drink or hold

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The expressive and elegant 2017 El Enemigo Cabernet Franc has some 8% Malbec in the blend. It's a subtle red with nuance and detail, very harmonious, aromatic, even floral within the spicy character of the variety. The palate is medium-bodied, the tannins are very fine and there's moderate alcohol and very good freshness and harmony. This matured in oak foudres for some 15 months. (LG)

Decanter
In 2017 Alejandro Vigil's flagship Cabernet Franc required five different harvest times and 15 months in an old foudre to lend it greater complexity and a more fragrant personality with fresh black cherries, menthol and subtle spicy oak notes. The Gualtallary soil gives the flavoursome palate a balanced, chalky texture. (AI)

Vinous
Harvested in stages in Gualtallary over a five-week period, this Cabernet Franc with 8% Malbec, aged in foudres, is a grand statement about the virtues of the variety. Sweet and sour cherries dominate a nose that reveals light hints of pyrazine, but are then overtaken in the glass by black currant. An open wine with a juicy palate, firm structure and polished tannins, presenting an engaging character and a long, fruity finish. (JH)

K&L Notes
95 points Tim Atkin MW: "Made 'like a flan', according to Ale Vigil, this is a co-fermented blend of Cabernet Franc and 8% Malbec, with lots of whole bunches and aged in old wooden foudres. Zesty and fresh, with the low alcohol and focus that are a feature of the El Enemigo style, it’s savoury and bright with salty minerality and graphite and green herb flavours."
