2016 La Chablisienne Chablis 1er Cru "Vaulorent"

SKU #1518970 92 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Some riper and deeper aromas in the peach zone, but it is assertively ripe. The palate has a long, fleshy core of dense fruit with grilled hazelnuts. A plush, smooth textural glide. Inner quote mark (7/2018)

91 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2016 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru has impressive terroir expression on the nose: light flinty scents percolating through the apple blossom and Cornice pear aromas. The palate is very well balanced with subtle hints of white peach and nectarine. This is a very pretty Vaulorent, the exoticism kept on a leash and allowing the finish to remain full of tension and bite. This is an astutely crafted Chablis that should give several years of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the BIVB Chablis tasting. (NM) Inner quote mark (8/2018)

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark This too offers better than average Chablis typicity in the context of the vintage with its notes of ocean breeze, algae, mineral reduction and white orchard fruit that are again trimmed in enough wood to mention. There is excellent richness to the dense and sappy medium-bodied flavors that possess a refined mouth feel along with plenty of salinity on the balanced and dry finish where the wood telegraphed by the nose resurfaces. I can't say that this appeals to me stylistically but it is well-made and should drink well young if desired. Inner quote mark (10/2018)

90 points Decanter

Outer quote mark Complex smoky, grapefruit and lime aromas and opulent 'all the fruit you could want' palate. Salinity, too, and smooth cashmere texture. *2018 Decanter World Wine Awards Silver Medal* Inner quote mark (7/2018)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent is quite exotic in profile, revealing aromas of musky peach, white flowers and honey. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and ample, with a textural attack and saline finish. It's one of the more gourmand wines in the range this year. (WK) Inner quote mark (8/2018)
