2018 Domaine Albert Morot Beaune 1er Cru "Les Marconnets"

SKU #1518838 93 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark Gentle woodsmoke and red cherry combine on the nose of this wine and continue on the bright body where fine, taut tannins carry the ripeness of the vintage with ease. Freshness emanates from a lively core, giving energy to this wine that shows real elegance. (AK) Inner quote mark (12/2020)

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark Subtle hints of menthol and wood toast can be found on the spicy liqueur-like aromas of plum, cherry and cassis. There is once again fine verve and delineation to the stony medium weight flavors that deliver very good length if less complexity on the very firmly structured finale. This may well surprise to the upside if it can add more depth with time in bottle, which it definitely needs. Inner quote mark (4/2020)

90 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Saturated fruit flavors of black cherry and black currant are framed by toasty oak and dense tannins in this concentrated red. It's balanced and taut, with fine length that will bode well for its development. (BS, Web-2021) Inner quote mark

Affordable premier cru Burgundy is a rarity in today's wine market, so this offering from top-tier producer Albert Morot is a pinophile's delight. The great 2018 vintage imparts fleshy, ripe bing cherry and raspberry fruit with expressive floral notes and subtle sous bois nuances. The ripe fruit is matched by intense acidity and serious tannin, making this a perfect candidate for the cellar. If you are going to enjoy it now, put it in the decanter for a few hours.
