Composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon (64%) with smaller parts of Merlot (21%) and Petit Verdot (15%), the 2015 Proprietary Red Estate gives a deep garnet-purple color and nose of crushed blackberries and warm black cherries with touches of Provence herbs, charcuterie and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers up expressive red and black fruit preserves with appealing herbal and savory accents, framed by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a minty note. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, crème de cassis, chocolate and sweet spice notes run through the 2015 Proprietary Red. A pliant, inviting wine, the 2015 will drink well with minimal cellaring. Today, the 2015 is a touch compact, especially next to the very best years, perhaps a reflection of its recent bottling a few months ago. (AG) 93+ (3/2018)
