Privateer "The Queen's Share" New England Rum (750ml)

SKU #1512962

The Queen's Share was what a distillery held back for the Royal Family. The best they had. It takes meticulous distilling, additional cut collection, re-distillation, and extended aging to fulfill it’s promise of dense flavor and plush texture. The trick here is collecting a fourth cut outside of the traditional heads, hearts, and tails cut. The 'seconds' are the magical 4th cut. This is taken from the brief period of time between the end of the hearts run and the start of the tails run. This precious liquid is collected over many distillations and then redistilled. This liberates the hearts from the tails and provides the finest quality rum. It's then aged for extended periods of time to bring it to its fullest potential. Only then is it fit to carry the label 'The Queen's Share."

A wonderful full bodied ,rich and juicy rum with deep flavors. It is ,however, not sweet and over bearing but balanced and tasty. This is a classy rum.

Last year we got in a single barrel of the Queen's Share and it might have been one of my favorite bottles we had come in the whole year, so you can imagine my excitement when this showed up! Immediately I was floored by how unique it was compared to frankly every other rum I've had. The nose is full of anise, fennel, black pepper and then brought back into familiar rum territory with the addition of butter and cinnamon. The palate is lighter than the other rums I've had from them, dryer with that anise really taking hold and then giving way to dried fruits and butter on the finish. A bottle this unique needs to be tried to be believed and makes me want to whip up some rum punch!
