2018 Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes" (1.5L) (Previously $440)

SKU #1508024 92-94 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2018 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru conveys more discipline on the nose compared to the Genevrières, offering walnut and light nutmeg notes, a hint of lanolin in the background and later a discreet petrolly note. The palate possesses the taut line of acidity necessary to counterbalance the intensity and richness of this Charmes. It feels long and generous toward the finish, where hints of stem ginger and grilled almonds linger on the aftertaste. (NM) Inner quote mark (1/2020)

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark A vaguely phenolic nose (think olive or nut oil characters) is present on the otherwise more typical aromas of acacia blossom and pear liqueur. The seductive, even plush, medium weight plus flavors coat the palate with dry extract before culminating in a lightly stony and beautifully textured finish that displays excellent length. This too should be impressive but note well that patience will also be necessary. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding!* Inner quote mark (6/2020)

93 points John Gilman

Outer quote mark The 2018 Charmes from Domaine Jobard is also a lovely wine in the making, with a similar personality to that of the Poruzots this year. The bouquet is detailed and utterly captivating, wafting from the glass in a mix of apple, passion fruit, orange zest, spring flowers, chalky soil tones, hazelnuts and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, long and precise, with a lovey core of fruit, fine soil signature, zesty acids and a long, still fairly reserved, but very promising finish. Inner quote mark (12/2019)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Offering up notes of citrus oil, green apple, orange oil, fresh bread and nutmeg, Jobard's 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes is medium to full-bodied, layered and racy, with a rather more reserved, introverted profile than the Poruzots this year. This is one wine where at least a modicum of bottle age will be merited. (WK) Inner quote mark (1/2021)

K&L Notes

93-95 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Pale clear and fresh colour yet with considerable concentration of fruit on the nose. And indeed an explosion of joyous white fruit at the front of the palate with valuable balancing acidity behind. Very satisfactory! Tasted: December 2019."
