2018 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Folatières"

SKU #1506832 91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark Notes of petrol, white flower and citrus possess background hints of honeysuckle and whiffs of the exotic. There is very good richness to the vibrant and stony middle weight flavors that offer fine persistence and a simply gorgeous mouthfeel before terminating in an impressively persistent finish that flashes very fine depth. This is an interesting wine in that there is solid power to it, yet the texture is almost delicate. Lovely stuff. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!!* Inner quote mark (6/2020)

90-92 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru comes from a long-term contract between the Drouhins and the owner. It has quite a strict bouquet of Granny Smith apples, hints of fennel and lemongrass lending complexity with time. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and quite saline in the mouth, showing good midpalate weight. It clams up toward the finish, so that it feels less persistent than the Meursault Genevrières tasted alongside. Give it time. (NM) Inner quote mark (1/2020)

90 points John Gilman

Outer quote mark The 2018 Folatières is a lovely and forward example of this fine premier cru. The nose delivers a very attractive aromatic constellation of apple, peach, a touch of almond, chalky soil tones, vanillin oak and a musky floral topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and shows off a great core of fruit, with good soil signature, sound acids and a long, ripe and still fairly adolescent finish. This is tasty, but still youthful and deserves at least a couple of years in the cellar to fully settle in and start to blossom. (Drink between 2022-2040) Inner quote mark (12/2019)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières bursts with notes of yellow orchard fruit, white flowers, marzipan and creamy new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and open-knit palate that's supple and expressive. This will drink well young. (WK) Inner quote mark (2/2020)

K&L Notes

91-94pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Fine pale colour with a elegant bouquet, not too ripe, not too weighty. Lovely fruit weight with considerable charm. Juicy and long, with an attractive balance of acidity. Tasted: November 2019."
