2019 Kalinda Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

SKU #1506638

This wine comes from one of the more renowned Pinot Noir producers in Northern California. Really! But, we offer this beauty at a price much lower than what you’d pay at the winery, as for decades now, our Kalinda private label has been providing K&L customers with awesome wines at a fraction of what they'd normally pay under the producers' mainstay labels. Naturally, no producer wants their wines on the market for less than what they'd usually sell for, so the trade-off is anonymity.

With Thanksgiving and the holidays fast approaching, this is an ideal and versatile value-priced Pinot Noir that drinks very nicely now. It's soft and juicy with delicious spiced red fruit flavors that make it irresistible.

The Kalinda Pinot is a classic Sonoma Coast style layered with ripe red fruit, toasty spices and a lush round palate. This explodes out of the glass with its inviting raspberry and cherry tones. I'm always amazed by the quality of our Kalinda offerings and their "secret" sources but for well under $20, this may be one of our best Kalinda deals ever!

Kalinda is our own proprietary label. With Kalinda we’re able to source wine from some of our favorite wineries and offer them to you for a fraction of their original cost. The 2019 Kalinda Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is north coast fruit that typically sells for quite a bit more. There’s ample red and black cherry fruit with a proper dusting of wood spice. This bottling comes from a renowned producer whose wines we already know you love. But, in return for such great wine, we’re committed to keeping that a secret. It’s a great trade off!

I've been terribly remiss not only in my exploration of our nicely priced house brand Kalinda wines, in general, but also at the moment, in keeping a can of "wine saving" gas on hand for open, half bottles. So that is where this 2019 Kalinda Pinot comes in. When it arrived, I was admittedly halfway into a bottle of very budget, organic California Pinot Noir from a certain producer better known for their $2 range, if you follow. I was curious, OK. (And no, it wasn't the same day!) Not having a can of inert gas on hand at the time, and realizing that it was tasting a bit tired and oxidized to begin with, I made the wine-wasting decision to toss out the rest of the bottle, and go ahead and open the Kalinda, instead. Good choice: This 2019 opened with sweet Mandarin orange peel accents to light, cherry-cranberry fruit, with just the tiniest dusting of baking-spicy oak. Next day is the test: some wines start to fall apart after a day partnered with half a bottle of oxygenated air; a few improve. So here's where that comes in: next day, this Pinot deepens, shows more black cherry character, and an added plushness. But still quite fresh, and good stuff. I don't know where this comes from, and I could be mistaken, but to me this reads like a southern Sonoma Coast Pinot.

WE sold out of the 2018 from this same property very quickly. This will surely sell fast. Sweet spice and cherry aromas lead to the palate. Big and firm wine on the mid palate with some raspberry nuances. Wonderful long and lingering, sweet finish. Perfect for the holiday turkey dinner. Just bottles in early November so decant.
Drink from 2020 to 2025
