SKU #1504137 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2018 Chardonnay Sangiacomo Vineyard needs a little coaxing before bursting from the glass with notes of fresh grapefruit, lemon meringue pie and Bosc pears plus hints of lime cordial and coriander seed with a waft of chalk dust. The medium-bodied palate is elegant and refreshing, delivering a fantastic intensity of citrus and mineral flavors with a racy backbone, finishing long and layered. (LPB) Inner quote mark (1/2021)

Outer quote mark With Philippe Melka and team now at the helm of these wines, this is amongst the first from the producer to source outside of the estate. From the great farmers that are the Sangiacomo family, this is a rich and mineral-driven white, with high acidity underlying the robust, balanced layers of pear, Meyer lemon and baking spice. It's easy to see why this magical wine from Westwood attain such high praise; it captures a wonderful purity of fruit. Perhaps it's a little cliched, but this truly has that sense of bottled sunshine. Aromas of blooming wild flowers, jasmine and honeysuckle. Pure, ripe, fresh-picked golden pear and honeyed apricot. The fruit flavors are luscious and rich, yet the wines almost crystalline acidity gives it form, vibrancy and cut. The oak is beautifully judged supporting the other elements but never obscuring or distracting from wines focus and purity. It's a beautiful bottle that highlights lovely fruit and vibrant acidity in perfect balance.
