2015 La Lecciaia Brunello di Montalcino

SKU #1500795 94 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Aromas of plums and berries with hints of flowers and cedar follow through to a full body with firm and silky tannins that are integrated and polished. Shows beauty and balance. Drink in 2022, but already very pretty. Inner quote mark (10/2019)

92 points Vinous

Outer quote mark Deep red with a garnet rim. Perfumed, showy nose of violet, cherry cola and pungent spices. Then juicy and penetrating, with firm, harmonious acidity giving the sweet red cherry and mint flavors good clarity and cut. Finishes with smooth tannins, excellent persistence and impeccable balance. This is a very good showing; well done. (ID) Inner quote mark (4/2020)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The La Lecciaia 2015 Brunello di Montalcino offers loads of Sangiovese brightness with tart cherry, raspberry and dried blueberry. Those forest berry notes are followed by soft earthy tones, along with tobacco and spice, making it a pleasant pairing with a Tuscan pasta dish of wild boar or rabbit, perhaps with some herbs from your own garden. This affordable Brunello avoids the trappings of a warm vintage. Instead, it presents a very polished and linear personality that underlines its accessibility and easygoing elegance. (ML) Inner quote mark (10/2020)

The nose is classic, full of plum, spice, leather, gravel, and smoke. That might seem a disparate blend for some of you, but it is a heavenly flow of aromatics that escape your glass when experienced. On the palate the wine is classic: a long, vibrant flow from front to back that is layered with wild cherry, smoke, and Tuscan brush hidden in a richly textured center and framed by a bit of tannin. The finish shows lots of spice, saddle leather, plum, and a slight tannic grip but lots of lift. It is remarkably drinkable now but will age well over the next decade.

This starts out with notions of warm, fertile soil and baked red plums. The middle is generous but clean and filled with more red fruits and a touch of underbrush where the burnished finish of roasted chestnut lingers.

A significantly classic Brunello for those seeking one that is ready to drink. Spiced hazelnuts, rich textures of plum skin, with a backbone of sour cherry and dried cranberry. There is a grip and firm acidity to this wine. The body is present and very giving right upon uncorking accompanied is a freshness of fennel and dried marjoram at the end.

This 2015 Brunello is beautifully layered, expressive wine bursting with sweet ripe strawberries, black cherries intermingled with subtle earth and toasted oak notes, minerals and a hint of bitter chocolate on the on the finish, round and ripe tannins and a long aftertaste
