The 2018 Gigondas is a wild, exotic wine that has crazy notes of green herbs, basil, blackcurrants, and violets, and there’s certainly a green edge here, yet it holds it together. A blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre aging in tank and older barrels, it’s medium-bodied, has fine tannins, and an elegant, silky texture. It’s certainly an interesting, singular wine and has character.

K&L Notes
Named for the family's second-generation winemaker, Cécile Chassagne took over the vineyard in Gigondas that had been originally planted by her father in 1974. This blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah is made in a traditional method without destemming. A long fermentation in open-topped wood tanks is followed by aging the wine for four months in Allier oak casks. The resulting wine is a medium-bodied, meaty and elegant expression of Gigondas terroir
