2019 Haut-Vigneau Blanc, Pessac-Léognan

SKU #1499498 91 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark Shining with ripe Sauvignon Blanc, this wine is young, with an herbal edge that will disappear. With its ripe character, hints of apples and toast from wood aging, this fine wine has potential. Drink from 2022. (RV) Inner quote mark (3/2021)

K&L Notes

Some people say it is the second wine of Carbonnieux, but there is actually a separate property and château. The winemaking crew at Carbonnieux helps with the vinification at Haut Vigneau. This is the first vintage of white we have carried from this fine property. This property is located in Martillac - very close to Smith-Haut-Lafitte.

This starts with intense aromas of verbena, lemon sorbet and honeysuckle. The wine is light and clean but with a juicy middle of crushed citrus fruits and a palate cleansing finish of lime and talc-like mineral. Mouth watering and delicious.

This is the first vintage of the white wine we have carried here at K&L. 2019s are superb for the white Bordeaux. From the owners of Carbonnieux and they did well for their first effort. Fruity and a bit melony, but with fine acid at the back.
Drink from 2021 to 2024
