1991 Cameronbridge 28 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Hogshead Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (750ml) (Pre-Arrival)

SKU #1494713

Over the years we've seen incredible old single grain Scotch on our shelves at ridiculously low prices, but just in the last few years, the rates we pay for very old grain have nearly quadrupled. Despite the quality, there doesn't seem to be a market for 35-40-year-old grain in the over $400 range and even with the additional cost of tariffs, the new prices just serve to make single malt look like a better deal. That's why we were so surprised when this cask of pretty darn old grain was offered at what seems like 2016 prices. Cameronbridge is an integral part of the Diageo portfolio and was one of the first Scottish distillers to adopt the column stills to produce grain whisky. It is now the largest grain distillery in Europe and the single largest source of Scotch whisky, making up a significant portion of big blends like Johnnie Walker, J&B, Bell's, White Horse and more. Today it produces upwards of 130 million liters of spirit per year. Yet, it's still astonishing that we are able to acquire nearly three-decade-old Scotch and sell it for less than $80. With just a drop of water, expect a gorgeous array of baked apple, freshly toasted cereal grains and meringue. This barrel only produced 218 bottles at cask strength.
