SKU #1494691 91 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark Focused aromas of boysenberry, light violet and lavender show on the nose of this bottling. The palate snaps with boysenberry, black-plum and tart elderberry flavors, with a hint of those purple flowers. (MK) Inner quote mark (1/2021)

K&L Notes

I found this to be more serious and generous than the bistro-styled wine I was perhaps expecting. Plummy fruit with creme de violette and savory spice are textbook and it comes together with good length and the structure to be versatile with food. This is a no-brainer as your next house red.

Whilst not related to the original Agharta wines made by Pax Mahle, this dynamic Central Coast Syrah is a fantastic value and has a compelling backstory of its own. During the turbulent transition from Terroir Selections to Vintage Wine Estates this wine was basically fell through the cracks. Made by the legendary Bob Lindquist at Qupé, and intended for their central coast bottling...once the dust settled, there were a few barrels left without a home. With Qupé already moving into it's 2018 bottling, the decision was made to put this wine under another label the company owned, that of Agharta. So basically what you're getting here is a delicious bottle of Syrah, from some of the finest vineyards on the central coast, made by one of the country's original Rhône varietal master craftsmen, Bob Lindquist, all wrapped up and on your dinner table for $12!
