Wow. This is real Cannubi, offering sliced ripe strawberries and dried flowers, such as roses, as well as crushed raspberries. It’s full-bodied, yet very tight and reserved. Stealth is a word that comes to mind. Love it. Best in a long time.

Rose, exotic spice and dark-skinned berry aromas mingle with whiffs of menthol and new leather on this radiant Barolo. Firmly structured and loaded with finesse, the savory palate delivers ripe morello cherry, orange zest, licorice and tobacco before a crushed mint finish. Taut fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity keep it well balanced. *Cellar Selection* (KO)

This is a poised and vivacious 2016 from vines that range from 14 to 54 years old. Flavors of rich dark cherry are taut and precise, brightened by exuberant acidity and notes of orange peel and menthol. Fresh and layered, with silky tannins, this shows great aging potential.

The 2016 Barolo Cannubi is ample and generous, with terrific textural resonance and breadth. Ripe dark cherry, plum, spice, licorice, new leather and menthol all flesh out in a supple, racy Barolo loaded with class and personality. The 2016 is rich, sensual and wonderfully inviting. (AG)

A fresh, crystalline red, exhibiting flavors of cherry, strawberry, iron and tobacco affixed to a firm, unyielding backbone of dense yet refined tannins, finishing long and satisfying. Excellent balance. (BS)

Decanter
Einaudi has a 2.4ha holding in Cannubi at an elevation of 220 metres. The fruit receives a long maceration before traditional ageing. It's still reserved, especially on the nose. At present it tastes supple and forward, but there is also concentration and flesh. There does seem to be a slight lack of nuance and complexity, but the finish is elegant and persistent. This may well be more persuasive after more bottle age. (SB)

Gorgeous nose, very expressive – classic. More powerful than the other cuvées from this producer in 2016 and still a little unrelenting. Needs lots of time but has all the power and fruit as well as freshness and impressive structure. 18/20 points (AC)
