Les Perrières, located close to the border with Meursault at the bottom of the slope, often seems to show more minerality at Carillon. True to form, this 0.6ha parcel has produced a zesy, crunchy, saline Puligny with some tangerine and citrus fruit and a hint of quince. (TA)

The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières is showing brilliantly, bursting from the glass with aromas of citrus oil, musky orange blossom, Anjou pear and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with fine concentration, racy acids, and a long, nicely defined finish. Incisive but enveloping, this is a terrific young wine from Jacques Carillon. (WK)

The 2017 Perrières from Jacques Carillon is a bit more reserved out of the blocks than the Champs Canet, but everything here seems just a touch more precise and pure as well and in due course, this is going to be even a shade better. The bouquet delivers a fine, fairly primary blend of apple, white peach, a hint of pink grapefruit, chalky minerality, vanillin oak and a youthful topnote of lemon peel. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and tightly-knit, with a superb core of fruit, excellent mineral drive, bright, snappy acids and excellent cut and grip on the long and beautifully balanced finish.

A restrained yet elegant nose reflects notes of mineral reduction, white flower, citrus, quinine and a whiff of oak toast. The even sleeker and more tightly would middle weight flavors brim with minerality as well as plenty of dry extract that buffers the moderately firm acid spine shaping the linear and highly persistent finish. This chiseled effort could use a bit more depth, but the underlying material is present for that to occur. *Outstanding*

Vinous
The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru has a precise bouquet of crushed rocks, apple blossom and faint hazelnut aromas, all with impressive intensity. The elegant, pretty palate is very well balanced, offering a fine bead of acidity and apricot, quince and touches of lychee toward the generous, open finish. (NM)

Less ripe fruit impact at first compared with the Champ Canet. But there’s real concentration. Has both tension and stony minerality at the core but clothed in ripe citrus. These are really very fine wines with no artifice, just pure fruit and site. Spicy aftertaste but it’s all in a line and long. 17/20 points. (JH)

K&L Notes
93 points Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy: "A fine light bright pale colour. The nose is less floral than Champs Canet and suggests a bit more weight. Fruit begins to emerge though, and where this wine wins is in the kick of concentrated white fruit which appears at the back of the palate in a substantial block. Then a more tingling finish with some youthful bitterness which will resolve without difficulty. Tasted: October 2018."
