Bright and lively, with exuberant star fruit, yellow apple and green almond notes that are given definition and focus by a fresh citrus peel thread throughout. Mineral-edged finish. (JM)

A wine you don’t see often enough, the 2018 Condrieu La Bonnette is terrific, with a medium-bodied, seamless texture as well as textbook Condrieu notes of tangerine, citrus zest, brioche, and white flowers. It has plenty of freshness, yet shows the soft, plush style of the vintage.

K&L Notes
From one of Côte Rôtie's greatest producers comes this textbook Condrieu. Sourced entirely from the one-acre "La Bonnette" plot at the crest of the hill, where the granitic soils impart a rich intensity to the wine that is buffered by the all-important acidity thanks to the vineyard's elevation. Rostaing's La Bonnette sees no new oak, so the purity of expression of Viognier's hallmark features is front and center. Rich apricot and peach are rounded out by a floral frame of jasmine on the nose. The palate is medium and restrained for a Condrieu with hints of ginger, green plum, and faint salinity. Rostaing's Condrieu is a solid reference point for the what the world's best Viognier wines should offer.
