The 2018 Bourgogne Aligoté Clos du Roy feels less expressive that Pataille’s other crus at the moment, coming across backward and reticent in the glass. The palate is livelier, offering orange zest, apricot and light spicy notes that become more vocal toward the finish. I suspect the aromatics will awaken once in bottle, given the quality of this vineyard. (NM) (1/2020)
