Brits James and Catherine Kinglake sound like an espionage pair out of a John LeCarre novel or Bond film, but they are hardly spies, unless you might happen upon them closely monitoring their beautiful Limoux vineyards in the shadow in the Pyrenees. The vigneron couple produce some of our favorite value-priced organic wines, and are true contrarians in that they selectively plant varieties that aren't permitted in the region, like Gruner Veltliner. Taste is the final arbiter, and this capricious, nicely dry Pinot Noir is a serious contender for best under $15 bottle in our shop. A vibrant thrust of just ripe cherry, raspberry and red currant flavors, all caressed by quenching acidity and soft tannins, this balanced Pinot will pair well with grilled salmon fillets or, as James Kinglake highly recommends, a roast duck.

Looking for that $15 dollar sweet spot and want a top quality pinot noir? Well, then begude to yourself and get your hands on this stunning pinot from Domaine Begude. I had this last night with some pork chops and it was simply wonderful. Herbaceous, and packed with subtle notes of dried cherry and cranberry, followed by mellow acidity. This bottle was awesome, and for 15 bucks you simply can't go wrong.
