93 points, Eric Guido for Vinous: "The 2018 Rosso di Montalcino captivates with a beguiling display of mineral-tinged cherry, flowery undergrowth, leather strap and hints of animal musk. It casts silky textures across a medium-bodied frame with polished red/black fruits under an air of inner lavender and violet tones. Round tannins frame the expression nicely, as residual acids make the mouth water for more, tapering off to tart cranberry with a motivating flourish of spiced citrus. The balance here is on point, guaranteeing a number of years of positive evolution in the cellar. That said, the classically-styled 2018 is already so easy to like." (01/2021)

This wine is pure and classic—that wild cherry Sangiovese just explodes from the glass—not opulent and fruity, just heady, lithe and focused. Spicy, complex, with wild cherry fruit, salted plums, and hints of sage and leather, it’s intriguing, seductive, and inviting. Ettore Spina has crafted a superbly complex and classic expression of the vintage, a wine that feels equine to me—rippling muscles but lean, not heavy, vibrant not ponderous. Nose in the air and ears back, this wine is just bursting to get in your glass—with so much complexity, balance and length, a truly superb wine.

This rosso was matured in French oak barriques and aged in bottle for three months before release. It has the classic rich and ripe black fruit, strawberry and toasty vanilla notes, Sesta’s terrior, a little earthy with minerals and incredible length on the finish. This will work great with ribs, burgers or pork loin, or a hearty winter stew.
