2017 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru "Séchet"

SKU #1483785 94 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Attractive yellow citrus, lemons and very chalky oyster shell minerals. White peaches and dried flowers too. The palate has a super fine acidity. Elegant, long and very mineral. This has real tension and energy. Drink or hold. Inner quote mark (7/2018)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark A bottling that regularly excels chez Dauvissat, the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Séchet opens in the glass with delicate aromas of citrus peel, grapefruit, crisp green apples and white flowers, with only subtle hints of the oyster shell to come. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with a deep and tight-knit core, striking tension and a searingly mineral finish. Séchet—where Dauvissat owns a 0.8-hectare parcel—is located in the Vaillons Valley, but its windier situation and soils richer in active limestone mean it's typically much chalkier and more tensile than the other climats that make up Vaillons. Outer quote mark Monsieur Dauvissat’s 2017 Séchet is simply superb and underscores just how brilliant this vintage is for the domaine. The bouquet is pure, focused and already very expressive, offering up a classic blend of pink grapefruit, apple, citrus peel, limestone minerality, beeswax and white lilies. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and marvelously racy out of the blocks, with a rock solid core, exceptional transparency, laser-like focus and a very long, saline finish. This is one of the finest young vintages of Séchet I have ever tasted chez Dauvissat! Inner quote mark (12/2018)

92 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2017 Chablis Sechet 1er Cru is soft and open-knit, not to mention incredibly inviting. Dried pear, almond, spice and savory notes all grace this lovely, absolutely charming Chablis. Pretty floral overtones add to its considerable allure. This is one of the wines in this range that will drink best with minimal cellaring. (AG) Inner quote mark (1/2020)

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark An impressively broad-ranging nose offers up notes of mineral reduction, wet chalk, sea breeze, citrus and dried apple. There is good richness yet also good refinement to the generously proportioned flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the beautifully persistent finish. This too is very good and should age effortlessly. Inner quote mark (10/2019)

K&L Notes

89-92 points Jasper Morris for Inside Burgundy: "Pure and pale colour, with dried fruit and leaves on the nose, for once more fruit at the front and a bit tighter behind, with a salivating salinity." (1/2019)
