Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Wafting from the glass with notes of cherries, raspberries, rose petals and orange rind, the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village is medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with refined tannins, lively acids and a perfumed finish. (WK)

The liqueur-like aromas of plum, spice and dark raspberry are also quite ripe without being unduly jammy. There is slightly better energy to the relatively fine and nicely detailed medium-bodied flavors that exude a refreshing salinity on the clean, focused and mildly austere finale.

The 2018 Chambolle AC was one of the last wines to finish its malo in the cellars this year and this wine was perhaps still a bit grumpy as a result. The aromatics here show just a touch of the heat of summer in its slightly roasted (like a 1990 red Burg) sheen to the notes of black cherries, black raspberries, a bit of plum, bitter chocolate, hung game, chalky soil tones and a floral topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and has a good core of fruit, with fine focus and grip, moderate backend tannins and a long, well-balanced finish. This is only 13.5 percent octane, so it is not an overripe wine by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems likely to always have a bit of that 1990-like personality. 2026-2050+.

Vinous
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village is a blend of 11 parcels and aged in 20% new oak. It offers pretty blueberry and raspberry aromas on the nose, which is quite understated in the context of the vintage. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry with supple tannins and good acidity, though perhaps the finish is just missing a little flair and complexity. Drink over the next decade. (NM)
