2017 Chateau de Fuisse Pouilly-Fuissé "Tête de Cuvee"

SKU #1478936 92 points Decanter

Outer quote mark Antoine Vincent uses fruit from 40 different parcels on a variety of soil types to make this textbook Pouilly-Fuissé. Stylishly wooded with layers of pear, citrus and nutmeg spice, it has the freshness and vivacity to age well in bottle, which is not something you can say of some 2017 Mâconnais whites. Drinking Window 2019 - 2024. (TA) Inner quote mark (10/2018)

92 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark A blend from over 40 parcels across the estate, this wine is generous and rich. A light touch of wood enhances the fruitiness and fresh acidity. Structured at the end, the wine is ready to drink. (RV) Inner quote mark (10/2019)

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark There is a lovely freshness to the restrained and complex aromas of pain grillé, honeysuckle, quinine, lemon-lime and passion fruit. The fleshy but intense middle weight flavors possess a plump and quite forward mouth feel, all wrapped in a bitter lemon-inflected, dry and crisp finish where a hint of warmth slowly emerges. A fine effort that should age well over the mid-term. *Outstanding* Inner quote mark (10/2019)

91 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark This white offers an enticing expression of ripe peach, apricot, honeysuckle and honey aromas and flavors. Ripe and creamy, with a lingering aftertaste. Drink now through 2024. (BS) Inner quote mark (8/2019)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru is performing well from bottle, opening in the glass with aromas of citrus confit, ripe pear, vanilla pod and spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with more structure than the Saint-Véran and with an oak-inflected finish. (WK) Fifth-generation winegrower Antoine Vincent presides over this important 40-hectare domaine in the town of Fuissé. Harvesting by hand, followed by gentle pressing and fermentation in tanks or in barrels, used and new, is followed by maturation on the lees for some 12 to 14 months; however, Vincent stresses his willingness to adapt his élevage regime to the vintage, noting that he bottled his 2017s earlier than usual to capture as much of their youthful freshness as possible. While several cuvées here see considerable contact with new wood (like many in the region, Vincent is a partisan of nearby Tonnellerie Dargaud et Jaegle), the wines integrate well and develop attractively in bottle. These 2017s, revisited from bottle, are some of the finest wines Vincent has released in recent years, and the Clos itself is a terrific representation of the warm terroirs clustered around the village of Fuissé.
