K&L Notes

Domingo Vicente Catena, father of Nicolas and grandfather of Laura Catena, originally created this iconic blend of Malbec, Bonarda and Petit Verdot, selling it to the best restaurants in Buenos Aires in the 1930s and '40s. This is an honest, authentic re-imagining of a blend that highlights Malbec's delicious fruit, with Bonarda's slightly rustic brawn and Petite Verdot's color and acidity. An authentic Argentinian blend, originally crafted for locals and now available to us.

This is Argentina! Malbec and Bonarda with a pinch of Petite Verdot. this is a dark, heady wine. Intensely colored, intensely aromatic, intensely flavors. This is all dark berries and plums with a floral lift and a hint of oak spice. It explodes on the palate it is like a blackberry, peach and plum cobbler still warm from the oven. The wine is big but not tannic, just a mouthful of fun. Rich and hearty but not cloying perfect for a quick grill or maybe takeout hamburgers.

Meat is to Argentinan cuisine what the guitar is to rock'n'roll and this Argentinian bottle was made for Argentina. Taste exactly how it should. Huge and happy, this has got black fruit and spice notes, and lilacs all dancing around the friendly glass. Begs for BBQ.
