2017 Domaine Olivier Leflaive Auxey-Duresses Blanc

SKU #1476113 92 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark This always feels like Meursault more than Auxey-Duresses and, again in this vintage, it delivers plenty of apples, mangoes, honey and hot stones. Linear and bright at the finish. Really pretty wine. Drink or hold. Inner quote mark (7/2019)

91 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark This village makes enticing, approachable Chardonnay. This wine fits that description, with intense freshness, acidity and citrus flavors. With its light touch of wood, the wine is ready to drink. (RV) Inner quote mark (12/2019)

Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark *Burghound Outstanding Value!!* A discreet amount of wood can be found on the ripe and fresh white orchard fruit aromas that are liberally laced with citrus nuances. The delicious and seductive if somewhat rustic and frank middle weight flavors conclude in a bone dry, focused and sneaky long finish. This well-made effort won't win any awards for elegance but refinement isn't why one normally busy Auxey whites. Inner quote mark (10/2019)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Aromas of white peach, flowers and pastry cream introduce the 2017 Auxey-Duresses Blanc, a medium-bodied, incisive wine that appears to lack a little concentration, though it's also more introverted than many of Leflaive's 2017s. The 2017 is a great success for Olivier Leflaive and the house's able winemaker Franck Grux. While the scale of this important négociant house sometimes wins it short shrift from Burgundy collectors, the truth of the matter is found in the glass. The whole range this year is very solid indeed, and with Leflaive's "Récolte du Domaine" range, Grux has evidently pulled out all the stops to produce wines that can confound the prejudices of even the most skeptical. Many of these bottlings are derived from Olivier Leflaive's share of the Domaine Leflaive vineyards, which only recently reverted to him, and these cuvées in particular are worth every effort to seek out. (WK) Inner quote mark (11/2019)

K&L Notes

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Bright pale yellow colour. The nose shows a little bit more intensity than the St Romain and there is significantly more fruit on the palate, slightly fleshy with a little bit of oak. the fruit fills the mouth very nicely, with an excellent balance between fruit and acidity. Pleasing length too. Tasted: October 2018."
