The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet les Combettes 1er Cru comes from a single parcel of vines that abuts the Meursault Charmes of Comtes Lafon over the border. It has a strict bouquet of well defined crushed stone aromas, hints of orange blossom surfacing with time in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a lightly spiced opening. Impressive weight in the mouth here. The pithy, stone fruit finish leaves a dash of ginger on the aftertaste. This is an excellent Les Combettes. (NM)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Deep and concentrated, the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes unfurls in the glass with notes of pear, white currants, buttered toast and blanched almonds. Medium to full-bodied, textural and reserved, concluding with a long, mineral finish, this is the most introverted of Sauzet's premiers crus and will need some time. (WK)

This also flirts with the exotic but remains pure and fresh and I like the fine layering of the airy aromas of acacia blossom, lavender, tangerine peel and essence of spiced pear. There is excellent concentration to the moderately powerful and sappy medium-bodied flavors that possess even better depth on the lingering finish where about the only nit is a touch of warmth. This stylish effort is quite classy and should age effortlessly. *Sweet Spot Outstanding*

K&L Notes
94-96 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Beautiful pale lemon yellow with a racy classy nose that shows why this is the last to be served in the 1er cru line-up. The oak just adds a perfumed inflection on top of the fruit. An immense volume of white cashmere coated fruit, as concentrated as you could want, with a very pure infusion of mineral acidity threading through the middle. Excellent aftertaste!"
